The Dear Husband - 2004-08-16 20:17:01
Since I have been quoted herein - Im famous! - I do not feel obliged to express my opinion, other than to say that, yes, ladies, we know (Come on guys, we know) that most of you dont like football, pizza & beer, golf, woodworking, wide-screen televisions, surround sound, etc., at least not as life-altering priorities. Heres the distinction (cue sappy music): When your lovely wife does this because she knows that you enjoy said activities, it is indeed not a trap but a gesture of love. Those of you still in the dating world, be very, very, afraid of a woman who espouses love or dislike for the exact same things that you love or dislike. I once dated a girl who asked me to walk a mile to get her a case of Diet Coke She too said that she liked pizza and beer In my world, pizza and beer are worth walking at least a mile for, but not any wussy ass Diet Coke. Think about it.

Something I failed to mention: I too am a Soungarden/ Chris Cornell/ Audioslave/ Temple of the Dog/ Anything not Nirvana fan, as my dear wife well knows. As she also knows, I possessively and selfishly attempt to control whichever music-playing device to which we are listening. So I pose you all this question: What Metallica CD was in the CD player? I just want to see what you guys will say

Two things: One, girls are supposed to be girly... that's why they're called "girls."

Second, it is "typical male behavior" to be in control of whatever electronic device happens to be in the room. Girls pretend to hate it when the man has all 19 remotes... but secretly, they think it's HOT!

I only know one Metallica CD the one with Sad But True on it. Is that Metallica (black) or something?

U) I once knew a girl who said she was down for everything, who once paused a make-out session to check the score of the game, that same girl now hasn't seen more than 3 innings of baseball since (a slight exaggeration). But I, as most men, don't mind a girl being girly, as long as the girlyness doesn't completely overwhelm our maleness. That's all I'm saying about that...

...for now.

nice post kid, the first one in weeks that I haven't needed a cold shower afterwards.

10 Points for the black man! He is on a roll, first he got El Dorado on Pete's and now he has correctly answered the Metallica question. Except you don't get shit on this ghetto site but recognition. We will all take a minute to bask in your glory....ok times up.

It is a good idea to be a bit of the both a girly girl and a guy's chick. I watch sports, but i also am going to take part in a "girl's night" with drinks, makeovers, massages and manicures next week. I follow the Cubs religiously and i watch Sportscenter when i can but i also tape my soap opera (Young and the Restless) everyday. So yeah, there's gotta be an equal balance of that stuff.

i personally prefer Ministry over Metallica but have been known to enjoy a little lars now and then. as for the girlie thing, i think that a girl that has a balance with the two sides is best off. i love to play video games and can kick most guys asses at any of them (as can my daughter who is only 8 - her male buddies have quite a complex over it but they have no problem asking me to help them beat a level, i guess that i have gone beyond girl to game guru to them) i love to work with wood, i have a router and can even do dovetails and my table saw is one of my pride and joys (and besides, my leather tool belt is quite hot if i do say so myself) when i was married i am the one that did the lawn and bushes, i laid the wood floor and put up the sub-walls for our attic...i have been known to get into football (both kinds) and even gave the boy a BJ while he was cheering the steelers (whom i hate thanks to a little sibling rivalry way back in the day. Go Cowboys!!) and although it appears that i wear the pants, i love also wearing the dress. i don't really like to shop so i try to do it quickly and efficently but love my egyptian cotton sheets and my duvet and cover (they were incidently gifts when i got married so i was saved the trial of the first buy but now i have bought my daughter her own and it wasn't too much of an ordeal.) i can party like a rock-star, well, used to be able to, i am getting too old for excessive partying but am still up for it when i can get a sitter or the girl is at daddy's. what my point here is, i think that a lot of girls pretend to be all girlie because somehow they think that it appeals to men's baser instincts. so if they are not on the one side of the spectrum, they sometimes try to go the opp. side and attempt to like the things their guy likes to make him happy (and thus be willing to perform certain erotic efforts in order to show said pleasure.) or, some girls are just fake and shallow bitches and no matter how you look at it they give the rest of us bad names. i do also agree that some of the girls on senor diary king's comments page are just enamoured of his prose. they want D to want them as much as they want him when reading his fun and frolicky words. (also have to admit that when i am laughing my ass off at something he has written i consider offering myself up on the alter to D. um, not That one...) i do agree with the husband jackie, and you. watch out for the fake ones. they will pretend till they catch you and then you are screwed. i have seen it happen to the best of them.
